"This is NOT a substitute for a paper towel, but in fact a long lasting bamboo towel that is great for kitchen cleanup or whatever. So many of the bamboo paper towels are 1 or maybe 2 time use, and are fine to use in place of paper ‘cause it’s better for the environment. But if you’re looking for a bamboo towel, as I did for weeks (and sent other “towels” back to AMZ), these ain’t perfect, but sooo much better than the others. They really are washable, without falling apart."

"I bought these bamboo “paper” towels as it seemed a pretty great deal. I use a LOT of paper towels. My main goal was savings, although I’m pretty happy with a bit of environment saving, too, plus I really like the bamboo products I’ve bought in the past.

Here’s the math:

There are 40 bamboo towels total, in two rolls, each reusable up to 85 times. 40 x 85 = 3400 towels.

A select-a-size name-brand big roll is 101 half-size towels. Divide that by 2 (to account for full-size) and it’s 50 regular size. The 6 pack costs $10-12 where I live.

3400 towels for $14.15 vs. 303 towels for $11. Pretty amazing savings.

So, right off the bat, I began using them for everything. They are stiff when new, so not particularly absorbent for drying hands. Instructions say they will get more absorbent with repeated washings. I was cleaning to show the house for sale, so lots of picking up dust bunnies and stuff that happens in corners and underneath furniture, and window sills, and dusting all the furniture (that’s a lot) and tv’s and stuff in general, lots and lots of clean-up.

I refuse to hand wash anything but babies. I put all the used ones in the washer with a couple bath towels on the recommended cold cycle. Made a big fuzzy mess, but this is not unexpected with bamboo. The bath towels lose the fuzz in the dryer, and a quick wipe down of washer walls cleaned it up for next load. I air-dried the bamboo paper towels, per instructions. This will not do – they’re going in the dryer next time! Then I used half of them again and washed a second time in the washer. Less mess, but still some. I sent them through the dryer without a dryer sheet. This was better and got rid of a lot of the fuzz, though not all. They’re ugly now, but much softer – similar to a microfiber towel – and definitely more absorbent. I imagine it will take at least 4 washings to get them to not shed, but it’s not really a problem.

Now one thing I’ve come up against is how to attractively store them in the kitchen for ease of use. Once they come off the roll, you can’t put them back on. I thought of one of those bag holder thingies, but they’re all too big. I guess I need some kind of box or something. Shoe box might work, but is still too big. Kleenex box might work, but I don’t use Kleenex... A bit bamboozled on that score. (See what I did there?)"
