Quite sturdy
"Held up nicely for our dinner party."
Great for Parties & Great for the Environment (But Pricey)
"We entertain a lot and had long ago switched from paper plates to the more durable plastic plates, but then I was introduced to palm leaf plates by a friend, and I was an instant convert. Of course, they are vastly more eco-friendly than paper of plastic, but the best part is you're not sacrificing function or aesthetics for the sake of the environment. The plates are beautiful, each one having its own natural grain, and they are almost as durable as plastic, in that they are very rigid, don't get soggy with wet foods and hold up to knife cutting. At 8 inches square, they are good for sandwhiches and the like, but a bit small as a dinner plate. While I know some people reuse them, I'm not comfortable with that (although I have no problem keeping leftovers on them and sticking them in the fridge or microwave). If you're treating them as disposable--which is what the manufacturer intends--these Posh Settings plates are a bit pricey, at just under $0.95 a piece (which is why I took away a star)--there are palm plates of equal size and quality on Amazon that are considerbaly less expensive (for example, today I'm seeing 50 8" square palm plates for $24.99, which works out to $0.50 a piece). In all, a very good product, but there are better values out there."

"We've been using the disposable plates for a couple of days and they are of very good quality. We like the compostable feature and we live in palm tree area so having plates made from palm leaf adds a bit of cocktail chatter. We used them for lunch - sandwiches, and the plates did not bend when holding them by one corner ( as if you were at an outdoor party with a plate of food in 1 hand and a drink in the other. We were curious to see how the plates handled water so we ran a damp sponge over them and there was no degredation of the plate. We used those same plates for salad and the dressing didn't soak into the plate at all. They're great plates. Size is convenient for party food, salads not a full dinner plate. Great size for lunches. They are more heavy duty than you would think, you could use the plates a couple of times - if you were just using them for your family that is."
