"Probably unavoidable, but the tines are pretty short, which makes it a bit hard for spearing any food. Also, not surprisingly, the wood is not nearly as strong as a metal fork. Good for softer foods, like potato salad."

Only down sides are the tines aren't sharp obviously, so eating things like salads takes a smidge extra attention. I think I've had 2 break out of a pack. No issues with splinters either. Obviously its going to "taste" different at first, but who really wants to taste metal when you're eating......"
