"I'm happy to have found toothpaste tablets that provide the fluoride necessary to prevent cavities. I like that it reduces plastic use and greenhouse gas emissions compared with toothpaste tubes.

Brushing using tablets is definitely a new experience compared to using paste. I try to get my mouth wet before chewing the tablet and wet the toothbrush immediately before starting to brush, but the tablet still seems to cake onto the occlusal surface of my molars. I end up brushing my molars for a lot longer than I normally would in order to get the tablet to dissolve and foam up. I feel like I don't have enough time to brush all the way along the gumline before the toothpaste is diluted with saliva.

At the end of the day, there are probably more effective ways to live more sustainably. I'm pretty sure that getting a cavity filled is worse for the environment than toothpaste tubes, so I'll use whatever helps me to brush my teeth most frequently. Right now the tablets are a novel experience, so I'm brushing regularly, but I might end up switching back to paste once the novelty wears off."
