"I use this to clean my stainless steel cooking pan with stubborn dirt from the dishes. It is effective as we use this back from my home country in the Philippines. It is also effective to use in scrubbing clothes or scrubbing the walk in shower. Overall, this is a good product and I highly recommend it."
Simple and sustainable, perfect dedicated veggie brush
"I ordered these because I needed a new scrub brush for fruits and veggies; now that we're on the road for my partner's work and I'm cooking primarily from scratch again, my old brush wore out quickly. I like the sustainable and compostable aspect of coconut coir, rather than adding additional plastics to our landfills, so I thought I'd give these a try.
The bristles are stiff enough to get into all the little crevices while scrubbing carrots or beets, and work well to get the waxy outer coat off apples and rutabagas. They don't have a handle, just a small metal loop where I could attach a hanging cord, but that makes them easy to grab in my palm and just scrub a potato for baking.
I'm sure the coir fibers will break down eventually, the same way natural-straw brooms do, but at $13 for 3, this pack should last me most of a year as long as I let them dry between uses; while that's not as long as a plastic/nylon-bristled brush, most people don't want to replace a perfectly usable brush every 3 months to prevent mold within the bristle clusters, so these actually promote a much better standard of food preparation safety, and I'm good with paying a little more for that along with the sustainable aspect."
